REDCap – Two Step Verification

REDCap requires two step verification for all logins. This is to prevent unauthorised access to data held in the system.

Setup two-step verification

Follow these steps to setup two-step verification for the first time.

  1. Login to REDCap with your username and password
  2. You will be asked to complete two step verification using either an authenticator app or an email. Select Email.
  3. You will be emailed a 6 digit code from REDCap@leeds.ac.uk. This is an unmonitored account so please don’t email it with login queries.
  4. Enter the 6 digit code and click submit
  5. You are now logged into REDCap

For all subsequent logins you can either continue to use an emailed code or setup an authenticator app on your smartphone. To configure REDCap to work with Googles Authenticator app do the following:

  1. Install the “Google Authenticator” app on a smartphone
  2. Login to REDCap and click My Profile
  3. Click Set up Google Authenticator for two-step login
  4. Follow the on screen steps to link the Google Authenticator app to REDCap

Logging in with two-step verification

To login to REDCap after enabling two step verification you will need to do the following:

  1. Login to REDCap with your username and password
  2. You will be asked to complete two step verification using either an authenticator app or an email.
  3. Select your preferred option
  4. [Optional] Tick “Don’t prompt me with two-step login on this computer for 24 hours”
  5. Enter the code from either an email or the authenticator app
