Life at the CTRU

Life at the CTRU

From access to world class facilities to flexible working options, working at the CTRU comes with many benefits.

Develop Professional Experience and Skills

As part of a new or continuing career, working at the CTRU will provide invaluable experience in a unique field, and within an international framework of regulations. Much of the experience you will gain here is difficult to attain anywhere else, and the opportunities to develop new and specialised skills are many and far ranging.

As well as the day-to-day experience, there are also many opportunities to develop and hone your skills through the University of Leeds' Staff and Departmental Development Unit, and Staff Review & Development Scheme.

And for everything you put into working here there is always the knowledge that you are contributing to work that will help save lives, improve treatments and enhance end of life care for generations to come.

Work/Life Balance

Flexible Working

The CTRU offers a wide range of flexible working options to help you fit the demands of your professional life around the necessities of your home life. From term-time working to compressed hours, we do our best to help balance your work with your life.

Holiday and Leave

The CTRU offers 25 days annual leave, on top of a further 15 or so days over the periods when the University is closed, including the Christmas period and an extra day over most bank holidays.

Facilities and Benefits

Being a part of the CTRU team gives all the additional benefits of the wider University of Leeds' community.

Stay in tip-top condition at the Edge, the university's state-of-the-art gym complex, learn new skills or get a massage at the staff LOGIK Centre, or join the NUS and enjoy discounts and other benefits at many national venues. Working with us will also give you access to the university's staff counselling services and staff networks, so you can receive the support you need, when you need it.

The University of Leeds also runs three pension schemes (one for academic staff and two for support staff), and supplies discounted bus and rail passes, and runs both a bike hire and Cycle to Work Scheme. Most of these benefits can be paid for directly from your pay cheque for simplicity.

Friendly and Inclusive Environment

As part of the University of Leeds, the CTRU embraces all the campus-wide equality and inclusion policies, and builds on them with our own equality strategy. We currently hold an Athena SWAN Silver Award and are always improving as we work toward the Gold Award.

Most of our work is conducted on a team-based basis, so you will have personal and professional support from your first day of work, and the CTRU prides itself on having a friendly and open staff community. Chat with colleagues in our shared break areas, or join one of our staff social groups, including the legendary Bake Club.
